1987–2027
Forty years of faith.
Forty years of learning.
Forty years of lives changed.
In 2027, Alphacrucis College New Zealand celebrates 40 years of equipping people to follow God’s call and make a difference in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
What began in Auckland as a small ministry training college has grown into a diverse Christian tertiary community preparing people for ministry, leadership, chaplaincy, business, education, the creative industries, trades, community service and many other spheres of life.
For four decades, the story of ACNZ has been a story of people: students who said yes to God, lecturers who invested in the next generation, churches and leaders who believed in the importance of training, and graduates who have taken what they learned into communities, churches, workplaces and nations.
This is our story. And it is a story we share with you.

1986
A Vision Takes Shape
The story of ACNZ began with a group of Auckland pastors who recognised the need for a new ministry training venture.
Their vision was simple but significant: to create a place where men and women could be equipped to fulfil God's call to Christian ministry in New Zealand and around the world.
What began as a conversation became a movement.
1987
The College Opens
In February 1987,
the Assemblies of God Bible College
opened in Auckland.
Later that year,
the College received recognition
as an approved
training institution
by the General Council
of the Assemblies of God
in New Zealand.
A new chapter had begun.
1993
A New Name, A Growing Vision
In 1993, the College became known
as the Advance Ministry
Training Centre (AMTC).
The same year, it received recognition
as an approved
tertiary training institution
by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority,
opening new opportunities
for formal tertiary education and training.
The College was growing - and so was its vision.
1997
National Ministry Training
In 1997, Advance became
the National Training Centre
of the Assemblies of God in New Zealand.
Ownership moved from the
Auckland region to the General Council,
reflecting the College's
growing national role.
The vision was no longer simply local.
The College was becoming
a place where people from across
New Zealand could be equipped for ministry
and leadership.
2006
A Trans-Tasman Partnership
As the need for higher-level education continued to grow, AMTC entered into a partnership with
Southern Cross College in Sydney, Australia.
In October 2006, AMTC became
Southern Cross College New Zealand (SCCNZ).
The partnership brought new opportunities
for shared courses, faculty collaboration
and higher education.
It was an important step forward -
connecting the New Zealand story
with a wider Australasian Christian
education community.
2009
Alphacrucis
In April 2009, the College became
Alphacrucis College New Zealand,
following the name of its Australian partner.
The name Alphacrucis comes from the
brightest star at the foot of the
Southern Cross.
It became a fitting symbol for a College
seeking to shine brightly at the foot of the Cross.
A new name marked a new chapter - but the heart of the mission remained the same.
2018
A Pioneer in Korean-Language Education
In 2018, Alphacrucis College New Zealand
became the first and only NZQA-accredited
tertiary education provider in New Zealand
offering programmes in the Korean language.
This significant achievement
expanded access to quality Christian higher education
for Korean-speaking students and communities,
both in New Zealand and internationally.
Through Korean-language delivery,
ACNZ strengthened its commitment
to equipping diverse leaders for ministry and leadership,
and service while extending its reach
across cultures and nations.

2025
Expanding Beyond Borders
Through NZQA-approved offshore delivery,
Alphacrucis College New Zealand extended its mission
beyond New Zealand, making Christ-centred
higher education accessible to students
around the world.
ACNZ's flexible delivery model enables learners
to study from their home countries
while remaining connected to a vibrant Christian learning community.
Today, all ACNZ programmes can be delivered offshore,
providing students
with access to NZQA-approved qualifications
in both English and Korean.
2026
Returning to Henderson
In 2026, ACNZ entered a new chapter
by relocating its Auckland campus from
Penrose to Henderson.
The move marked more
than a change of address.
It represented a return to a familiar home,
as the College had previously operated
in Henderson around 15 years earlier.
From its new campus at Central Park Drive,
ACNZ continues to provide Christ-centred education
in a vibrant and growing community,
equipping students for ministry, leadership,
and service across New Zealand
and beyond.
2027
40 Years of Impact
Celebrating 40 years since opening its doors in 1987,
Alphacrucis College New Zealand marks
four decades of preparing leaders to make a
difference in churches, communities,
workplaces, and nations.
Thousands of graduates have been equipped
for ministry, leadership, chaplaincy,
and mission around the world.
As ACNZ looks to the future, it continues to expand opportunities for both domestic and international students through flexible on-campus, online, and offshore study options. Reflecting New Zealand's diverse communities and ACNZ's growing international reach, programmes are offered in both English and Korean, making quality Christian higher education accessible to students locally and globally.
