Alphacrucis College is committed to support NZ Permanent Residents and Citizens in their learning of the English language.
Its' programmes are designed to bring students up from their entry level to a higher level of competency in the following skills:

Speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Grammar and vocabulary are taught in connection with the skills.
Course Description

Lecturers engage with their students enabling them to acquire skills for effective communication in the community and for some, preparation for higher academic studies.
Learner eligibility:
You must ensure that ILN ESOL Fund Funding is only used in respect of a learner who is one of the following:
A. a refugee, being a refugee, protected person or people sponsored by a refugee or protected person, and includes:
the 30 Afghan interpreters who worked for the New Zealand-led Provisional Reconstruction team in Afghanistan and their dependants who were granted residency, andthose persons who have been recognised as a refugee or protected person in accordance with Part 5 of the Immigration Act 2009, and whose application for residence is being processed, or
B. a migrant, or
C. a person for whom English is his or her second language, and
- is a domestic student, and
- meets the following criteria,
D. is 16 years of age or over, and
E. has low English language and/or literacy skills.
For the purposes of this Condition, a learner has a low skill level of literacy, numeracy, or literacy and numeracy:

if the learner has fewer than 80 credits on the NZQF, or
-
if the learner has more than 80 credits on the NZQF, the learner has fewer than 12 credits in literacy and/or numeracy in unit standards and/or achievement standards, or
-
if the learner is assessed using the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool and presents below Step 1 in reading on the Learning Progressions, or
-
if the learner is assessed using Starting Points and presents at the equivalent of below Step 1 in reading on the Learning Progressions.
You must only allow a learner to re-enrol in a programme funded through the INL ESOL Fund for a period of up to 5 years in total.
